Even though it is the 'off season' there is still plenty of news buzzing around in A1GP at the moment. And the biggest news is the arrival of the team's new car, which is very exciting. We've also released the new calendar and it's great to see another race at Sepang this season - we hope that you will all be coming along to support us there. The new A1GP "Powered by Ferrari" car is continuing its heavy test schedule - we're all pleased to see that they chose our livery colour for this prototype!

THE NEW CAR ARRIVES!

The long wait for the new A1 Team Malaysia race car is finally over! The first batch of new cars has been delivered to the A1GP workshops in the UK and the Malaysian crew will soon be hard at work building it and preparing for the first of the two preseason tests, which will take place from 18 to 20 August.

The schedule recently released by A1GP includes two new European rounds, with the

season opener in Mugello, Italy and the penultimate event being held at a brand new circuit in the Algarve, Portugal. The calendar features a return to Indonesia, with a street race event, which will be a 'first' for the nation. On the final

calendar we're expecting to see a return to Zhuhai in China after the Malaysian round and a move from Durban to the Kyalami track in Johannesburg, South Africa. There's also a possibility of a race in South America.

THE QUEST FOR COMMERCIAL PARTNERS

One of the biggest challenges for A1 Team Malaysia is making sure that there is the right level of budget to race competitively in A1GP. The team is indebted to its roster of partners who have made it possible for the team to be on the grid for the last three seasons.

As A1 Team Malaysia prepares for the next season of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, the executives are focusing on securing additional support to ensure that the team can once again have the necessary funding to be racing at this level.

Supporting the team is a tremendous opportunity for Malaysia's corporations. The team offers all partners a huge global television audience, a loyal fan base - as evidenced by the team winning the Most Popular Team Award at the end of season party - and exclusive partnership benefits.

NEW A1GP CAR CONTINUES TESTING

The new A1GP car is currently undergoing an extensive testing programme with the first car off the production line being used by the technical department to evaluate the package and fine-tune the design details ahead of the teams receiving their chassis.

Following an initial shakedown in Mugello, the car was taken to Imola in Italy for further testing. The Ferrari engine test driver, Andrea Bertolini, has been behind the wheel for this intensive programme. Testing continued last week at the Guadix Circuit, a recently constructed facility in Spain. Introducing a new car for the Series is a major step. We're expecting it to be even faster than the original A1GP car, yet it will still allow plenty of overtaking. The unique PowerBoost will be retained in the new car, so the racing will still be fast and furious.
