A1 TEAM MALAYSIA WELCOMES NEW A1GP INITIATIVE

A1 Team Malaysia welcomes the major initiative A1GP announced today wherein the Series has entered into a long term partnership with Ferrari, with a six-year agreement to supply engines and to design and consult on the manufacture of the A1GP chassis for use from the 2008/09 season.

Jack Cunningham, CEO of A1 Team Malaysia, said after hearing of this new partnership, "The Malaysian team is one of the founding franchisees of the A1GP Series, signing up in November 2004, taking its place on the grid for the first race at Brands Hatch in the UK in September 2005 and participating in every round since then. This programme will bring many commercial benefits to the A1GP Series and is a positive step in building upon the strong foundations laid over the past two or three years.

It underlines the innovative strategy that A1GP takes in offering a unique brand of single seater racing, following on from the initial concept of creating a nation versus nation platform. It is this ethos that led us, back in 2004, to become part of the Series.

A1 Team Malaysia, Sepang circuit and the Malaysian race promoter have all put in enormous efforts to support A1GP and be part of its success. It's the series' continuing development, with increasing television audiences and trackside spectators, allied to broad publicity and promotional programmes that will be further assisted by initiatives such as this.

We are looking forward to many more years of success and further exciting developments such as this announced today."

Alex Yoong, driver for A1 Team Malaysia, adds, "The Ferrari brand is an iconic symbol of motor racing at the highest level, so I'm sure that it will bring many new fans and broaden the profile of the Series throughout the world. The partnership confirms A1GP as a Series which is investing in the future to ensure its continued development, as well as bringing a new dimension to the championship with the second generation of A1 race cars."

A1 Team Malaysia has entered its third season of A1GP competition. The second round of the 2007/08 Series takes place this weekend in Brno, Czech Republic. The team recorded its best weekend at the venue last year, with victory in both races.
