Positive day for Belmayne A1 Team Ireland at Silverstone
Silverstone, Tuesday 18th September 2007; Ralph Firman completed a productive days running for Belmayne A1 Team Ireland at Silverstone today. The 32 year old completed 113 laps posting the 7th fastest time in the afternoon session. The team ran through a range of set ups in preparation for the opening round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport at Circuit Park Zandvoort on September 30th. Just half a days running tomorrow remains before the car and equipment are packed up to be transported to Holland.
Team members will continue to work into the evening as they carry out pit stop practices, even more vital for season three as there will now be two pit stops during the feature race. The Irish crew have a well earned reputation as being amongst the quickest in the pit lane and intend to maintain this status.
Dan Walmsley, Race Engineer: "Overall a very positive day. We're focusing now on the first race and the main aim is to give Ralph a car he's comfortable with. We made some good changes over the course of the days running and P7 is a comfortable position to be in, we can use tomorrow morning to try and find a few more tenths. The team worked very well together, very smoothly with no problems at all which was another key objective."
Ralph Firman: "I'm happy with how today went, we found half a second against the ultimate pace in the afternoon session and I'm sure there's more to come. I'm still getting used to being back in a single seater but the team have worked really well together and I'm confident that we're moving in the right direction. I hope the weather holds out tomorrow so we can get plenty more running in preparation for Zandvoort."
