Disappointing qualifying Ho-Pin Tung in A1GP New Zealand

'This is --.' With a word his mother will not have taught him Ho-Pin Tung looked back on his 17th place on tomorrow's grid, after two qualifying sessions on the circuit of Taupo, New Zealand, Saturday. In free practise everything went rather well for the young Dutch Chinese driver. But qualifying vaporised his hopes for a good position to start the Sprintrace with. 'I also made a mistake myself, but even that did not influence the outcome of the qualifying sessions,' says the reigning Formula 3 Champion. 'Changes made in the set up of the car proved to be no improvements.'

Ho-Pin Tung is invited to defend the honour of China in New Zealand as well as in the next A1GP-race in Australia.

Taupo is a difficult, bumpy circuit and it is hard to find the right set up. Team China's mechanics face a long night of hard work to prepare the car for Sunday's Sprintrace. Ho-Pin:' It will be difficult to overtake in the short Sprintrace, I will fight my way up in the Feature race, says a determined Ho-Pin.

Germany, with Nico Hulkenberg at the wheel took pole position, while team New Zealand used the home ground advantage by claiming third place on the grid.
