Antonio Felix da Costa on top of form at New Zealand

The Portuguese driver Antonio Felix da Costa was the best rookie new to A1GP at Taupo Motorsport Park this weekend on New Zealand. First time on track and first on the car was not too much for the 17 year old driver.

The Formula Renault driver was fifth fastest, less than half a second away from Switzerland Alexandre Imperatori's best time, which has already experience of being on the car 6 races on A1GP and had been set on new tyres.

"I really enjoyed this experience. Everything was new for me and I think I did a good job putting the car on top5 on my first time here. Every lap I was getting more and more confident and there was more to come I believe. I had half a day in a World Series by Renault 3.5 car, but this is an even bigger step up. Filipe helped me a lot and the work with the engineers and all the staff was brilliant. Thanks for this opportunity", said Antonio.

Before starting his preparation for the new season with his team Motopark Academy on the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and NEC championships, Antonio will join the A1GP Portuguese Team again for South Africa race (21/22 February).
