Fassler and Buemi find rhythm in Shanghai

Friday, April 13, 2007 - Rookie driver Marcel Fassler was in action this morning on a dry Shanghai circuit setting a seventh fastest time in 1.37.581 and covering 22 laps. The weather was dry and warm and drivers were surprised with the mist floating over the track.

Later, Stebastien Buemi completed 25 laps and clocked the 7th fastest time in the first official practice session. His best lap 1.36.110 while A1 Team Great Britain clocked a best time of 1.35.573, just three hundredths of a second faster than second placed New Zealand.

Marcel Fassler commented, "I like this track. In the first rookie practice session I was 5th with 1.37.956 working mainly on getting the braking fine tuned. I hope I have helped Sebastien for the rest of the weekend."

Sebastien Buemi:"I feel comfortable with my seventh fastest time. It is not the fastest we could have done. But I am pleased with the work during our 27 laps. We acquired a good number of useful data and the tyres have hold well. We will see for tomorrow's qualifying."

Max Welti, Team Principal added: "Because of all the races conflicting this week-end we have a new race engineer and a number of new staff on the team. Everyone has to get accustomed to the team work. It is a bit of a new team spirit and everyone seems to be gelling really well already. Marcel Fassler has worked very hard and consistently and Sebastien started an encouraging build-up towards tomorrow's qualifying."
