A1 Team Great Britain overtakes A1 Team Brazil in the series standings

Qualified: 15th
Sprint Race: 11th
Feature Race: 6th Series
Standings: 3rd (73pts)

A1 Team Great Britain finished 6th in today's Feature Race at the Parque Fundidora Circuit in Monterrey, Mexico. This result secured five championship points and allowed A1 Team Great Britain to overtake A1 Team Brazil in the overall standings. A1 Team Great Britain now lies in third place behind A1 Team Switzerland and A1 Team France. A1 Team France's Alexandre Premat continued to mark France's domination of the series by winning both the Sprint and the Feature Races.

A1 Team Great Britain's driver Robbie Kerr finished 11th in the Sprint Race, having started 15th on the grid. It was not a good start for A1 Team GBR driver Robbie Kerr, and an altercation with A1 Team Brazil resulted in bodywork and oil radiator damage to the car, although this damage did not impact on the set-up for the Feature race. A solid and daring performance by driver Robbie Kerr allowed A1 Team Great Britain to climb to 6th place in the following Feature Race.

A delay within the early pit-stop lost vital seconds for the team, however Kerr progressed up the field, and advanced significantly within the closing laps of the race. A1 Team Great Britain secured five championship points over the course of the weekend, and now stand three points ahead of A1 Team Brazil.

Robbie Kerr: "It was a good race, but I am disappointed with how the weekend has progressed, although it is obviously a good feeling to now be standing third in the series. Our problems in the qualifying sessions put us on a back foot for the race, but I am pleased with my driving."

Team Principal John Surtees: "It was a good race, although an uphill struggle from the start. Not finding speed in the qualifying race meant that we did not have the advantage of starting near the front. But Robbie had a fantastic Feature Race, after the minor incident with A1 Team Brazil in the Sprint Race. He had an aggressive drive, and made some exciting moves. It was unfortunate to have a delay in the pit-stop which lost us the opportunity to challenge for third place in the Feature. But all in all compared with how we started, we have certainly finished on a high note."

Laguna Seca, California will host the next Grand Prix of the series in two weeks time.
