MAXroam partners with Team Ireland's world cup bid
Portugal, 10th April 2009; As A1 Team Ireland prepares for this weekend's Portuguese round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport the team is pleased to announce a new commercial partnership with MAXroam, an innovative telecommunications company offering customers the opportunity to enjoy low-cost mobile calls by using a unique MAXroam SIM card.
With a MAXroam SIM card customers can use any unlocked GSM mobile phone to make voice calls in 213 countries world wide, with data services available in 139 destinations. Furthermore, customers can not only forward their usual mobile number to the MAXroam SIM card but enjoy the benefits of having a local numbers in whichever country they are in.
"We offer a world class service which is perfect for the times we live in, offering low-cost mobile roaming and giving the consumer complete control over, and access to, their bills online," said MAXroam CEP Pat Phelan. "Given that we give our consumers a terrific service, world-wide, it is an ideal fit for us to support Team Ireland as it competes with 20 nations for the World Cup of Motorsport. The team's successes to date are a great Irish success story, and the synergies with leading edge technology, global competition and working with the right team of people are perfect for us."
The MAXroam branding will be displayed on the A1 Team Ireland 'Powered by Ferrari' car at Park Algarve this weekend, when the team's lead driver Adam Carroll will continue his assault on the World Cup of Motorsport. Team Ireland has already scored victories in China, Malaysia and New Zealand this year, and is one of the favourites for the title.
"MAXroam's support for Team Ireland is very welcome and a further indication of their commitment to innovation as well as good reward for the team's strong performance so far this season," said Team Principal Mark Gallagher. "Having spent the last 25 years travelling world-wide in racing I have first hand experience of the huge charges faced by business travellers and holiday makers using their mobile phone overseas, so the MAXroam solution is ideal."
Team Ireland will compete in this weekend's Vodafone A1GP Algarve with practice on Friday, qualifying at 2.00pm on Saturday and the Sprint and Feature races on Sunday at 11am and 3pm respectively. Both qualifying and the Feature race can be seen live on Sky Sports.
