Edoardo Piscopo collects points finish at Kyalami

Edoardo Piscopo had a weekend of hard work at Kyalami, South Africa, in the third-to-last round on the 2008-2009 A1 Grand Prix of Nations. Driving Team Italy's Ferrari-powered car, the Italian driver collected a points finish on Race 2 after suffering from several issues on Friday and Saturday.

In practice, Edoardo totaled just 11 laps, mainly due to the late delivery of cars and spares. On an almost unknown track, he took a spot on row 5 in Qualifying 1, before being sent to the back of the grid for Race 2 by a red flag that prevented him from attempting his last stint on new rubber.

After ending up in 11th on Race 1, Edoardo fought back to the top-10 on Race 2, recovering from the back of the pack to the points zone.

"The start of our weekend was a bit troubled. In practice, we completed just 11 laps: not too much on such a fast and technical circuit. While I took 10th place for the sprint race, a red flag came out at the end of the second session, right after I exited the pits on new tires, preventing me from clinching a top-10 position.

"We had a better overall pace on raceday. On Race 1, I kept my position before slipping to 11th due to a pit miscue. Then on Race 2, despite an early contact, and thanks to two perfect pitstops, I was able to clinch 10th place and get the last points spot.

"While we found a good balancing on slow tracks, we need to work on the faster ones. Despite the lack of testing opportunities, the big time gap before Portimao will allow the team to analyze the data and improve further more".
