Back from another tough weekend at Mugello, Edoardo Piscopo is ready to face a double role in the second part of the year. Entering the 4th F.3 Italia 2008 round in Tuscany, Edoardo was pushed to the back of the grid by an electronic problem on Race 1, then fought once again with his car's lack of speed on straights. Alongside facing a strong challenge in the national F.3 series, Edoardo will start preparation for the forthcoming A1GP Season, as the series' new Ferrari-built car was presented at Mugello by Ghinzani's Team Italy. Edoardo will come down on-track at Silverstone for the first round of testing at the end of August.
- Let's talk about Formula 3. How do you feel about the latest race at Mugello?
I had an unfortunate start on Race 1: due to an electronic problem my car stalled, forcing me to drop down the order. On Race 2, as well as in the latest round at Monza, we continued to struggle in terms of straightline speed compared to the Lucidi car of Bortolotti. The difference was so big that I couldn't get close even when I was in his slipstream. It's quite impossible to explain, since I was on a lower downforce setting though I was faster in the mixed section. It won't be a problem at Varano, but I hope for an improvement before Misano and Vallelunga.
- How do you feel about the 08/09 A1GP car?
I can't wait to give it a closer look, but it seems a gorgeous car, with minimal exterior differences from a Formula 1 car. I hope to get behind the wheel soon. We have a lot of development work to complete: the first tests are scheduled for August 19-20 at Silverstone.
- Can you tell one thing the team need to improve since the last season?
Surely. Last year I got in the car after the start of the season, running on several unknown track and having to learn a new racecar that still needed further development. We took the right path by staying focused and stable, and that was confirmed by the good results and points finishes collected in the final races. I hope to be able to drive in any occasion available before the start of the season, in order to place a bid for a top spot sooner than possible.
