LONDON, 6 March 2009 At a press conference in London's Living Room the zero emission race series, Formula Zero, announced that its next championship round will take place at the go-kart circuit of Brands Hatch, alongside the motorsport circuit. Six top university teams designed and built their own hydrogen electric vehicle, that will race as a support category at the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport event A1GP Brands Hatch, Great Britain on 1 3 May.

This will be Formula Zero's second championship round after the world premiere in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in August 2008. The university teams from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and the United States battled for position zero, which is the same as winning in the world's first zero emission race series that is using hydrogen and fuel cells. Spanish EuplatecH2 won the sprint race, while the Dutch Greenchoice-Forze was the best team during the main race. In terms of championship standings; Greenchoice-Forze is closely followed by Solvay Umicore Zero Emission Racing Team from Leuven, Belgium.

Even though the current recession is painful for the automotive industry, innovations that are necessary for sustainable mobility are supported in major EU and US stimulus packages. So the motorsport industry is also at the beginning of one of the most dramatic changes in its history yet,' says Formula Zero's Managing Director, Godert van Hardenbroek.
