Friday running cancelled as track revisions discussed in China

Friday November 10, 2006 -- Friday's scheduled A1GP rookie and practice sessions, prior to Sunday's third round of the 2006-07 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport in Beijing, China, were eventually cancelled following issues with the layout of the 3.104km street circuit designed to host the city's first ever motorsport event.

Located in the Chinese capital's Economic and Technological Development Zone, a twenty minute drive from the heart of the city, the street circuit in Beijing in its current guise raised several issues following the first running of the 550bhp A1GP cars on the FIA Grade 2 track late Friday afternoon.

A1GP and circuit officials are in discussions to resolve the situation ahead of tomorrow's planned practice and qualifying sessions.

Toronto's James Hinchcliffe (19) is currently fulfilling driving duties for A1 Team Canada in China, with the team sitting fourth in the A1GP Nations Standings on 11 points with Germany leading on 20 following the opening two rounds in Holland and the Czech Republic.

Sunday's scheduled Sprint race starts at 11am local time (10pm EST Saturday) with the Feature race starting at 3pm in Beijing (2am EST Sunday).
