FRANCE MOVES UP TO SECOND FASTEST OVERALL
A1 team France continued its strong performance during the second day of testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in the South of France. Frenchman Alexandre Premat drove the French car all day and set the second fastest time overall of the day (1.24.392) this morning.
A delighted Alexandre Premat said: "This morning went well with the second fastest time overall. We could have gone slightly quicker but I made two small mistakes on my best lap. Nicolas did a great job with the set-up of the car yesterday and the balance was good this morning when we started. The car has improved since the first test at Silverstone. The Paul Ricard circuit is longer than the lay-out we had at Silverstone, with more corners, so it is harder to find the best set-up. This afternoon was more difficult. We ran with the harder compounds supplied by Cooper and the car was harder to drive. We worked on the set-up but Nicolas will have to do more work tomorrow morning."
Jean-Paul Driot, Team Principal, added: "As planned Alexandre drove all day. He had a small moment on his third flying lap with new tyres as he was overtaking another car. Nevertheless, he set the second fastest time of the day which is impressive. I am sure Nicolas Lapierre will improve that time tomorrow morning. We are happy with our progress so far and we have collected a lot of information. I enjoyed the rolling start practice at the end of today, it was a good rehearsal and we could smell the racing atmosphere which we will enjoy during the season. I cannot wait for the 25th September at Brands Hatch. The car ran very reliably again. Today we are running in the low 24s as expected in our simulations and I believe that tomorrow morning we will be even faster."
